Network Engineer

Reporting Line: Network Administration Manager 

Job Objective: To activate services on the WIOCC partner network and assist with network administration, client support, incident resolution, problem identification through pro-active monitoring and manage change or planned engineering works

Key Duties & Responsibilities

  • Represent WIOCC while working from the partner offices
  • Activate, change or terminate services on the WIOCC partner networks using NMS, EMS, CLI, or other systems as required
  • Proactive monitoring of the WIOCC Partner network; logging, managing, and resolving 1st level incidents
  • Incident identification, problem resolution, change management, and planned engineering works as directed by WIOCC NOC/TAC
  • Interface with clients for service assurance and service delivery queries, achieving high levels of client satisfaction
  • 1st level field support as required, assist with installation and project work
  • Escalation/on-call for network incidents
  • Assist with the management of records, including ODF, port, and supplier records
  • Assist with moves, adds, changes, and deletion (MACD) management and control of service inventory
  • Assist to ensure emergency changes made are reviewed and either accepted or normalised
  • Assist to manage stock
  • Actively use, and ensure data integrity of NetSuite

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in telecommunications or in a related field
  • ITIL for Service Management course or equivalent

Experience & Skills

  • Requires a minimum of 3 years’ experience in the telecom industry ideally in service delivery or NOC roles
  • Knowledge of telecommunication systems including DWDM, OTN, SDH and data (Ethernet, IP/MPLS)
  • Effective written and verbal communications skills evidenced by work history and accomplishments
  • Expert knowledge of at least one trouble ticket system; NetSuite desirable
  • Excellent communications and soft skills, including the ability to listen to, summarise and concisely share key information with clients, produce reports, SLA processing, and improvement plans
  • Demonstrate ability to manage multiple priorities and solve problems in a fast-paced environment
  • Microsoft Teams, Office365 including Word, Excel, PowerPoint
