Location: Cape Town and Durban
Job Objective
The Stock Assistant is responsible for supporting warehouse and store operations by performing various tasks related to receiving, storing and shipping products. This role involves physical labour, attention to detail and adherence to safety guidelines.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
Receiving and Unloading
- Unloading incoming shipments from trucks or other delivery vehicles
- Verify incoming shipments against purchase orders and packing slips
- Inspect products for damage or discrepancies
- Accurately record received items in the WIOCC hub and NetSuite system
Storage and Organisation
- Properly store and organise products in designated warehouse and store locations
- Rotate stock to ensure first-in, first-out (FIFO) principles
- Maintain a clean and organised warehouse environment
Picking and Packing
- Accurately pick products from inventory to fulfil the request
- Pack products securely for shipment
- Generate accurate tags, labels and documentation for equipment in the warehouse
Shipping and Loading
- Assist in dispatching or issuing items to the requester
- Ensure accurate and timely shipment of orders
- Coordinate with shipping carriers to schedule pickups
Inventory Control
- Support to conduct regular inventory counts and reconcile discrepancies
- Assist in cycle counting and physical inventory verifications
- Support in Maintaining accurate inventory records in the NetSuite system
- Actively take part in inventory audits
General Warehouse Duties
- Assist with general warehouse upkeep and 5s lean principles in the warehouse
- Comply with company policies and procedures
- Ensure RMAs, Returns and third-party equipment are properly reported to the Stock controller
Minimum Qualifications
- High school certificate, Certificate in inventory management, Business administration or Equivalent
- Technical certifications, i.e. Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) or equivalent field experience is desirable
- Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office suite (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook and Excel)
Experience & Skills
- A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience
- Telecom knowledge and experience will be an added advantage
- Proven experience and skills in inventory management and stock control
- Good inventory management skills.
- Good communication and soft skills, including the ability to follow instructions
- Ability to use systems effectively to record information accurately, concisely and in a timely manner
- Demonstrate ability to manage multiple priorities and solve problems in a fast-paced environment
- Physically able to stand, sit, move, squat, walk and climb while carrying out work.
- Physically able to lift up to 20 pounds or more
