Chris Wood, CEO of WIOCC, a leading carrier-neutral infrastructure provider in Africa, has again been identified as one of the 100 most influential people in the global wholesale carrier community in Capacity magazine’s fourth annual Power 100 index. Chris has been recognised every year since 2010 when the list started as the GTB Global Telecoms Business Power 100.
Over the last 12 months, Chris has completed a $200m debt and equity capital raise; overseen the launch of the new WIOCC Group company, Open Access Data Centres, which is delivering a transformational edge data centre proposition for Africa; continued WIOCC’s African and global infrastructure build-out, including strategic investments in the new Equaino and 2Africa subsea cables (and WIOCC’s selection as a cable landing partner for both cables), and the expansion of WIOCC’s 16Tbps-ready hyperscale national backbone in Nigeria and South Africa.
Chris continues to influence the growth of WIOCC Group’s assets into Africa’s digital backbone and he is instrumental in improving Africa’s global connectivity, helping to deliver enhanced economic growth, innovation in business, job creation and improved access to social media and content.
