Investing in Africa's Digital Backbone since 2008
WIOCC is an award-winning, pan-African supplier of carrier-grade, international connectivity. In committing over US$500 million to building Africa’s first, truly open-access, hyperscale, integrated core digital network infrastructure, we are supporting cloud operators, content providers, internet service providers, fixed and mobile telcos to expand their reach and generate new business opportunities across Africa.
Our Regions
We support our clients in effortlessly and cost-effectively expanding their network reach, offering multiple routes for reliability and tailor-made solutions to connect to their customer locations. We have the flexibility and scale to meet the ever-growing demand for reliable solutions throughout the continent, driven by end consumers, enterprise users and the ecosystem that supports them.
With our extensive national terrestrial fibre networks and metro connectivity, we interconnect key cities and major points-of-presence throughout the region and provide connectivity to international subsea cables including EASSy, SAFE, SAT3, Seacom, WACS and the Equiano (Google) and 2Africa (Meta) subsea cables connecting Africa to Europe.
Network rings in South Africa are wholly-owned by us, guaranteeing the highest levels of scalability and uptime of mission-critical data, ensuring continuity of service even during cable outages.
In West Africa, we deliver client connectivity into and between multiple countries through our partnerships with local operators and our strategic investment in the WACS submarine cable which lands in DRC, Congo Brazzaville, Cameroon, Nigeria, Togo, Ghana and Cote d’Ivoire.
Our most recent investment in the region is into the Equiano (Google) and 2Africa (Meta) subsea cables, with WIOCC chosen as Google’s landing partner in Lagos. Equiano (Live) and 2Africa (Coming soon) are critical in meeting Nigeria’s current and future hyperscale international connectivity demands, establishing a valuable new high-capacity connection between the African continent and Europe.
We also have our wholly-owned national terrestrial fibre and metro network in Nigeria, interconnecting key cities and major points-of-presence throughout the country.
Our capability in Greater East Africa is based on cross-border integration of extensive national terrestrial fibre networks owned and managed by our local shareholders. The result is a unique hyperscale network with extensive terrestrial fibre reach and cross-border connectivity, seamlessly linked to international submarine connectivity.
We are the natural partner for cloud operators, content providers, fixed and mobile telcos, and ISPs looking to take advantage of the opportunities in Zambia and its neighbouring countries.
Our unique proposition, with superb cross-border connectivity and our own Metro in the capital, Lusaka, provides fast, reliable, high-capacity connectivity to meet the increasing demand for bandwidth and uptime expectations.
