“OTTs, content providers, ISPs, telcos and mobile network operators can now enjoy fully scalable, high-capacity connectivity throughout South Africa via our fully OTN-enabled national backhaul and expanded Metro networks,” explained WIOCC’s Chief Development Officer – Darren Bedford, during a recent interview with TechCentral about our multi-million dollar investment in hyperscale network infrastructure in South Africa.
A unique connectivity proposition
Clients can take advantage of our recently-extended national dark-fibre network, which utilises Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing (DWDM) technology to deliver up to 16Tbps of capacity across the country. Expanding our Metro networks in the key commercial hubs of Bloemfontein, Cape Town, Durban, East London, Johannesburg, Pretoria and Port Elizabeth, means we can also help our clients get directly and cost-effectively to more of their customers’ locations, with both linear and diverse routing options.
Darren continued: “Partnering with WIOCC means you have a single point of contact for international and local connectivity, which simplifies internal processes and streamlines your supplier relationships. If you’re looking to expand your business into neighbouring countries, we can also provide cross-border connectivity into Botswana, Mozambique and Zimbabwe.”
“As a long-established wholesaler, we don’t compete with clients for Enterprise business. Our focus is instead on providing the most reliable hyperscale connectivity to help our clients meet the demands of their customers, both now and into the future,” he concluded.
